We all want to live and work in an environment that makes us feel safe and secure. All this while, the concept of residing in a safe building was to have strong walls, roofs, and other basic amenities. With technology entwined in every aspect of our lives and the realization of creating a resilient human world led to the adoption of leading digital technologies for building smart cities became imperative. Streamlining and technologically empowering the buildings is necessary to circumvent the pitfalls and save energy.

The growing need to enrich operational efficiency, monitor energy usage, boost productivity and augment occupants’ comfort encouraged the use of intelligent monitoring and regulatory systems such as the Building Information Modeling techniques and the Building Management System (BMS). BMS or the Building Automation System (BAS), is a centralized and computer-based network that helps smart buildings attain power efficiency, minimize the amount invested in operational and maintenance processes.

The demand for BMS has been skyrocketing recently which makes it one of the leading and profitable sectors for budding go-getters who are excited to explore market possibilities. Garima Bhardwaj and Gaurav Bali, creators of Enlite `-a Mumbai based tech startup are on a mission of developing world’s first Operating System for Real estate – Know Your Building ™ a unique combination of wireless building management system and service digitization.

Enlite is the outcome of Garima & Gaurav’s forethought of enabling the standardization of building through advanced technologies. This reformation could help complement residences’ standards of living. These disruptive solutions play a crucial role in surveilling the air quality, security, building temperature, hygiene maintenance, surveillance and other. The best utility of building standardization is keeping a tight rein on the wastage of natural resources.

Enlite is one of the 12 startups that are part of the sixth edition of Qualcomm Design in India Challenge (QDIC) – an initiative to encourage design houses and product companies to invent useful and innovative hardware products designs incorporating Qualcomm SoC platforms and technologies. The startup is bestowed with the opportunity to convert its design submissions into workable prototypes under the mentorship of industry experts, utilizing the Qualcomm® Innovation Lab infrastructure.

The startup was previously also selected to be a part of Qualcomm’s well-rounded mentorship program QWEIN (Qualcomm Women Entrepreneurs India Network) – a six-month curriculum offering women-led startups opportunities and mentorships that helps them unbar the potential of their business.

While working with OYO, Garima was assigned the responsibility of organizing, enhancing, and customizing the hotels of various types and sizes as per the guidelines set by the company and the requirement of the customers. During this vocation, Garima came close to understanding the gaps that exist in the real estate industry and how non-standardized it is. On the other note, technologies that have the potential to address the glitches are high-priced and esoteric which the small and medium sections face difficulty to snap up and operate. The idea of bringing in cost-effective and technically advanced solutions that can lead the change and promote standardization in the industry, kindled Garima & Gaurav to lay the cornerstone of Enlite. It took years of diligence, discipline, hard work, and excessive research in giving shape to the vision of disrupting the building automation industry.

“Our collective vision is to brainstorm ideas to invigorate building standardization. The aim is to develop a platform that thinks up and extends the latest, comprehensive, user, environment, and pocket-friendly building management system to support the small and mid-sized commercial infrastructures with real-time building level monitoring and controlling. Our system is designed to conserve energy & save energy bills, reduce operational cost, automate efficiency, automate and digitize all manual processes, contribute and complement the endeavor of building a smart building that ensures safety, security, comfort to the occupants,” said Gaurav Bali, Co-Founder, Enlite.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the startup has built a one-of-a-kind Operating System for real estate (Know Your Building™) using deep technologies like Artificial Intelligence and IoT.  The interoperable Operating System along with wireless energy-efficient and non-invasive universally integrable device endow companies with effortless and systematic processes for monitoring and managing mechanical, electrical, electromechanical and soft services of their establishments. Know Your Building™ (KYB) is the progression of traditional building management and automation systems into an information system. Using KYB every stakeholder in a building can derive value, from every point of a building like never before.

Their other flagship offerings are Building health management, Asset management, Contactless Access Controls equipped with hardware and sensors that detect parameters such as electricity usage, air quality, and monitor different areas of the building services, and so on. The team of Enlite had worked together to make their devices more touchless to cater to the COVID requirement, helping companies and occupants reside in a robust and benign environment.

When Enlite introduced its concept in the Indian market, the results were astonishing. Companies from across verticals were keen to learn and adopt this disruptive technology to enhance efficiency. The startup has initiated partnerships with some of the leading firms from the APAC & MENA region and is launching is first overseas establishment in Qatar in January 2022 and is looking at 1 million sq.ft. of its operating system deployment in the first quarter of 2022.

For its future ventures, this AI-driven startup will be launching the next version of its operating system with more features to automate and digitize every possible type of a building and is looking at expanding into a couple of more countries in middle-east towards the second half of next year.
